Carina Anne Birrell was born in Edinburgh, January 1985 and moved to Glasgow with her Scottish parents and elder brother, where she was raised and lived until the age of eighteen.

Participating in local and amateur Theatre and Dance companies from the age of four, Carina quickly developed a natural love of Acting and Performing, training with Scottish National Youth Theatre and Stagecoach School of Performing Arts.
Her strong passion for cinema and Independent British Film was inspired by her grandfather, Scottish Independent Film Maker Harry Birrell, who notably built the Smallest Cinema in Britain inside his Glasgow home in the 1950s, projecting homemade 16mm film dramas and documentary film.
